The give away
Things went pretty good today. We only had 3 boxes of things left. We took them down to the local thrift store, so everything that left this house this morning is gone for good. We got $45.00 in donations. Not a huge amount, but I thought pretty fair for the amount of stuff we had. Most people took alot of things and then just left a dollar or two. That is okay though because most of the people at the “giveaway” didn’t seem to have much in the way of material possessions anyway. So I am sure it helped them also.
The children’s program at our church is raising money to send to other children in Haiti. So the money that was donated to us is going in the pot at church.
It was a really nice day and it felt really great to give things away. The looks on some people’s faces when we told them they could have anything they wanted for FREE were just amazing. Some had gratitude and some just pure confusion. Like they just couldn’t phathom why someone would just give stuff away. Anyway, it was the most fun I have ever had at a yard sale. I will definetely do it again. Have a wonderful weekend and talk with you soon!

Tomorrow AM is the great yard give away
The yard give away is tomorrow morning. I can’t wait. I really need to unload all of these possessions off of me. I feel like a huge weight will be lifted tomorrow. The living room just feels so great already. So open. Unencumbered.
I wish everyone I know could experience the freedom that simplicity is creating in my life. Each step I take towards simplicity creates more peace in my life. I feel that I have more time for other things. I have alot less “things” to care for. It is oh so liberating. I guess people either get it or they don’t. You can only be an example. I get the strangest looks from friends and family when I tell them that my family of 4 only own 4 plates, 4 bowls, etc. They shake their heads and call me crazy. But I have so much peace about the whole thing. It only takes me like 3 minutes to clean my kitchen. 3 minutes!!!! When I finish getting through everything I would suppose an entire housecleaning would maybe take a half of an hour. Maybe. Any way I am happy! My family is happy! Mom isn’t quite as grouchy these days.
Everyone have a great weekend and SIMPLIFY!
